Free things to do in Montreal in August
This summer, enjoy the many free activities in the city!
1. Montreal First Peoples’ Festival (August 3 to 10, 2016)
The oldest, most deeply rooted and most longstanding resistance movement in the Americas invites you to its great annual event. Montreal First Peoples’ Festival offers concerts, dance and other cultural events in the Quartier des spectacles.
2. Montreal Pride (August 8 to 14, 2016)
The largest LGBT event in Montreal presents several concerts and shows. On August 14, don’t miss the colourful LGBT Pride Parade! It will start on the corner of Saint-Mathieu Street and travel east on René-Lévesque Boulevard, culminating on Sanguinet Street and the Village.
3. OSM Classical Spree Festival (August 10 to 13, 2016)
The OSM Classical Spree Festival is a grand celebration of classical music, where great international masters meet a new generation of rising talents performing in works by composers of yesterday and today. Attend a dozen outdoor performances will be given there and a great celebration concert of the 40 years the Olympics in Montreal, August 10, on the Esplanade of the Olympic Park!
4. Campbell Concerts (all summer)
This summer, as is the tradition since 1924, the Charles S. Campbell Estate offers free concerts in the parks of Montreal. 10 artists will perform across the city. Still casual, these cultural encounters deserve to be enjoyed with family or friends; feet in the grass in front and a shared picnic during the Campbell Concerts!
5. Festiblues international de Montréal (August 11 to 14, 2016)
Discover and enjoy many artists including Louis-Jean Cormier, Ariane Moffatt, Jean-Pierre Ferland, The Seasons, Philippe Brach, Bob Walsh et Guy Bélanger and many others. Come and see them performing at the Ahuntsic Park from August 11 to 14, 2016 during the Festiblues international de Montréal! Access is free for children 12 and under and $8 only for adults.
6. Festival Montréal Country (August 19 to 21, 2016)
For its 3rd edition, the Festival Montréal Country presents many free shows on the exterior scene, as well as several by ticketing under the marquee at the end of the evening. Come and dance, party and even challenge the mechanical bull! This summer, Montreal is Country!
